Last week, the Icelandic Parliament approved new legislation introducing a road tax based on mileage. Following this decision, the terms and conditions of Sixt Long Term Rental have been updated, and we encourage our customers to review the revised terms via the provided link.

From 1 January, all long term rental agreements will include a road tax charge corresponding to 6.95 ISK per agreed kilometer according to the contract. An example table is provided below for reference.

• 1250 kilometers – 8.688 ISK
• 1500 kilometers – 10.425 ISK
• 2000 kilometers – 13.900 ISK

At the end of the rental period, the road tax is settled based on the total mileage driven during the rental. The final amount therefore reflects the actual use of the vehicle, taking into account what has already been paid.

To ensure that all information is correct from the beginning, we encourage customers to register the vehicle mileage on the Sixt Long Term Rental website as soon as possible.
